ST REGIS residences
The 1,960 sqft apartment at St Regis Residences overlooks an oasis of greenery in the heart of Singapore’s prime shopping district. The owners were seeking a soft and warm design for their home and wanted to avoid current design trends that may not withstand the test of time.
In approaching the design, we first sought to soften the sharp edges of the existing structural walls to create a welcoming feel for the space. Curved walls were introduced at the master bedroom and guest rooms to balance the angular layout; we also incorporated recessed cove lighting at the living area to achieve a warm ambience. A soothing palette of light grey and wooden tones was developed and applied throughout the apartment, with dark wood furniture providing contrast where appropriate, such as the dining set, lounge coffee table and bedside tables.
The unit also features pieces of custom-made furniture designed by the studio. A key highlight would be the lounge sofa upholstered in Kvadrat fabric with a generous side chaise and deep sofa seats providing an ergonomic lounge experience. In the bedrooms, the studio designed light custom shelving and a suspended dresser to optimise the space above the bay windows, while at the same time preserving the unblocked views that the apartment offers. The custom carpentry in the bedrooms and study rooms feature smooth leather handles that exude a quiet touch of fine living.
In complementing the overall design, the studio curated a collection of furniture, including the sumi ash dining set from Ariake, upholstered study chairs from Fogia, Woodnotes carpet and finally lighting from Muuto, Ferm Living and Areti.
